The Elephant Whisperer

Updated: 5 days ago
When Anthony was asked to take in a herd of nine dangerous, unpredictable elephants that were slated to be shot for aggressive behaviour, his common sense told him to refuse. Realising he was their last chance for survival, he accepted them and risked his life to win their trust.
By living alongside them, using specific vocal tones, and adjusting his body language, Anthony formed a deep emotional bond with the herd. He learned to communicate with their remarkable matriarch, Nana, and her protective sister, Frankie. The book explores themes of animal intelligence, loyalty, and the deep emotional connections shared between humans and nature.
The Famous "Mourning" Event
The legacy of Anthony's bond with the herd gained global attention after his sudden death from a heart attack in 2012. Though no human had alerted them, the two wild elephant herds traveled for 12 hours through the reserve to his house. They stood silently outside his home in a solemn, two-day vigil, seemingly paying their respects to the man who saved them
